(For example, Minuk’s book discusses women’s periods, describes some rather dark treatment of women, and ends with the deaths of many people from illness. Some of the books have some rather dark subject matter in them, making them inappropriate for younger children. The level of mature themes discussed varies somewhat from book to book, depending on the author and the circumstances of the girl in the story. They are about twelve years old instead of being about ten, and the books often deal with more mature themes. The girls in this series are also a little older than the ones from the typical American Girls books. ![]() The books are all written by different authors, and none of the characters appear in more than one book. The stories all take place in different time periods. Unlike the usual American Girl books, this series features girls from different countries around the world. This series comes from the American Girl company that made the American Girl history series. ![]()
